The recent BJP Telangana State Committee meeting has reignited debates around social equality and representation of Backward Classes (BCs) in Telangana politics. The composition of the stage without any other caste dominated by leaders from a single upper caste has triggered sharp criticism from BC community leaders.
Among those seen on stage were Maheshwar Reddy, Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy, A.V.N. Reddy, D.K. Aruna Reddy, G. Kishan Reddy, and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy — all belonging to the Reddy community, while Ramchander Rao was the only Brahmin leader who is president of BJP of Telangana present.

BC leaders expressed strong disappointment over the composition of the committee and the repeated promises of appointing a BC Chief Minister.

They further alleged that all major political parties in india— the BJP, Congress, and BRS — are controlled by upper-caste dominance, leaving little space for true representation of backward classes and marginalized groups.
“Real empowerment for BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities can only come from a party that belongs to them — and that party is the Telangana Rajyadhikara Party,” they asserted.

Representatives of the Telangana Rajyadhikara Party (TRP) stated that their party stands for ownership, equality, and dignity among marginalized groups.
“In our party, the real owners are the BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities. Our goal is to ensure equal political opportunities, representation, and respect. This is not just a movement — it’s Telangana’s journey of self-respect,” they said.

With this controversy, BC rights, political representation, and social justice have once again taken center stage in Telangana’s political landscape.
BC organizations , activists, intellectuals ,are reportedly preparing to form a new political force that truly reflects their aspirations.
