Politicians and Officials Without Even Basic Education Are Insulting Educated Journalists”
Special Analysis by Veeramusti Sathish, MAJMC, Independent Journalist

The Irony of Today’s Democracy
In today’s political system, a strange irony has taken shape —those who have studied, trained, and dedicated their intellect to telling the truth through journalism are being humiliated by people who haven’t even completed 10th class — politicians, street-level leaders, and even some government officers.
This is not merely an attack on a profession. It is an insult to democracy itself.
Disrespect for the Educated
Many journalists hold advanced degrees —M.A., MCJ, and even Ph.D. in Journalism and Mass Communication.
They took up journalism as a social responsibility, not as a business. They chose the pen over power — truth over comfort.
Yet today, they face a new reality —
write one report, and you face an FIR.
Ask one question, and you’re told —
“Who gave you permission to ask that?”
Politicians who have never studied journalism stand on podiums and shout —
“The media is against us!”
Such ignorance is not an attack on journalists — it’s an attack on truth itself.
Journalists: Educated, Intelligent, but Disrespected
In this field, many have studied:
MCJ (Mass Communication & Journalism)
M.A. in Political Science / Sociology
Ph.D. in Journalism or Social Studies
These people possess knowledge, linguistic command, and social understanding — qualities that a healthy democracy should treasure. Yet, when the illiterate gain power, they often cannot tolerate truth. They see facts as insults, questions as rebellion, and journalists as enemies.
Education is Optional in Politics, But Not in Democracy
The Indian Constitution allows anyone to contest elections — even those who haven’t finished 10th class.
That is the beauty of democracy.
But therein lies the danger — when authority is granted without awareness, orders come without understanding.
When an educated journalists writes the truth, those in power — often lacking that education — feel “challenged” instead of “corrected.”
That ignorance breeds arrogance, and arrogance turns into suppression.
Officials’ Arrogance: Turning on the Messengers
It’s not just politicians now — even some bureaucrats are crossing the line.
When journalists file RTI applications, they’re asked:
“Who are you to ask this?”
When they question irregularities:
“Show your media card.”
When they publish a report:
“Delete the news or face consequences.”
These are not isolated incidents — they reveal a disturbing truth:
The very system meant to provide information now fears transparency.
The Social Irony: The Truth-Teller Becomes the Target
A journalists studies for ten years to write one factual line. A politician who hasn’t passed 10th class grabs a microphone and yells:
“Media spreads lies!”
The crowd cheers — but the journalist goes home in silence. This is the dark comedy of our democracy. When ignorance receives applause and truth receives threats, the foundation of a nation begins to shake.
“Insulting a Journalist is Insulting the Public”
Let’s be clear — protecting journalists is not an act of government kindness. It is a democratic duty. Every piece of news carries behind it hours of effort, courage, and risk. The same politicians who quote the media when it favors them, turn around and abuse the same journalists when exposed. That is not politics — it is moral collapse.
Health Cards, Press Passes, and Empty Promises
Health cards, press passes, journalist IDs — all exist on paper. But on the ground, their value is nil.
Even in hospitals, journalists are turned away or humiliated. A state that cannot respect its information workers
is a state walking blind into its future.
When Education Loses Respect, Democracy Loses Direction
Politicians have power, officers have authority, but journalists have only one weapon —the pen. And when that pen is disrespected, darkness spreads faster than light. A society that disrespects the educated and glorifies the ignorant is not a democracy — it’s a tragedy.
Ignorance with Power is the Enemy of Truth
Power without education breeds arrogance. And arrogance breeds intolerance.
That’s why today, we see:
When an educated journalists questions, they face a case.
When an uneducated politician errs, they receive applause.
This is a new form of inequality — where ignorance and power unite against truth and intellect.
Journalism is slowly being pushed into silence, not because journalists are weak — but because ignorance is getting louder.
Editorial Insight
For democracy to survive, truth must live. For truth to live, journalists must be protected.
And protection doesn’t mean just police security — it means social respect, mental safety, and professional freedom.
If the voice that tells people the truth is silenced, democracy will survive only on paper.
