Wanaparthy, October 6:
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Nearly two decades after the launch of the Palamuru–Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Project, displaced the farmers and affected families from several villages are preparing to voice their long-pending grievances once again.
The Association for Solidarity of Project Victims announced that a mass public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 7, at 11 a.m. in Nagapur village, Revalli Mandal, Wanaparthy district.
Social activists Dr. Nagaraju and Mam. Rekhavathi will attend the meeting. Organizers have urged the participation of citizens, farmers’ unions, student organizations, and public representatives to stand in solidarity with the victims.
“More Tears Than Water” Voices of the Displaced
Despite the Telangana government’s repeated claims of development, farmers allege that no proper compensation or rehabilitation has been provided even after 20 years.
“We lost our lands, our livelihood, and our homes — but not once did we receive justice. The compensation we got was in hundreds, while the land’s value was in crores,”
said one of the affected farmers.
According to the victims association, over 3,000 families from 30 villages lost their agricultural lands and houses. Land worth over ₹2,000 crore was acquired, yet only ₹200 crore rupees was disbursed as compensation.
Corruption Allegations and “Finance Company Mafia”
Farmers alleged that fake finance companies and middlemen siphoned off crores meant for compensation.
“Our money went into the hands of brokers. Some of us were tricked with fake cheques that bounced. Many farmers went bankrupt; some even took their own lives,”
the victims lamented.
120 Farmers Suicides – A Human Tragedy Ignored
The association claims that over 120 farmers have died by suicide due to unbearable debs and injustice.
“Neither the previous governments nor the present one listened to our cries. Even for marriages or funerals, we received no help. Our tears have dried up,”
said a villager, his voice breaking.
Rangareddy or Dongareddy Project? – Farmers Angry Retort
The association has accused political leaders and contractors of turning the Palamuru–Rangareddy project into a “money-making racket.”
“Transparency is missing. Politicians and contractors gained, but the displaced lost everything. This is not Rangareddy — it has become Dongareddy (Loot Reddy) project,”
alleged the victims’ group.
Objectives of the October 7 Conference
During Tuesday’s meeting, farmers and civil society groups plan to submit the following key demands to the government:
-
Full payment of pending compensation
-
Proper implementation of rehabilitation schemes
-
Restoration of land records
-
Government jobs and housing for displaced families
“This is not just about compensation — it’s about dignity, justice, and survival,” the organizers stated.
“Let’s stand together for our farmers. Let’s ensure their tears turn into strength.”

✊ Final Message from Victims
“The Palamuru–Rangareddy Project should have been Telangana’s pride.
But until the tears of displaced farmers stop flowing, development remains incomplete.
Our struggle will continue until justice is done.”
