Due to the heavy crop damage caused by the “Monta” cyclone, former Chief Minister and YSR Congress Party President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will visit the affected areas in Krishna district on the 4th of this month, party leaders said.
According to Krishna district YSRCP President Perni Nani and MLC Talasila Raghuram — the tour has been planned covering Penamaluru, Pamarru, Pedana and Machilipatnam constituencies. YS Jagan is expected to interact directly with the farmers and examine the damaged crops.
Party leaders said that during the last 18 months, the state has witnessed multiple cyclones, depressions, and low pressure systems one after another, resulting in huge crop losses. However, they alleged that timely assistance from the government has not reached the farmers.
“When crop losses occurred during the previous YSRCP government, immediate support was provided within the same season. But the present government has scrapped schemes including free crop insurance, which were beneficial to farmers,” Perni Nani and Talasila Raghuram commented.
Party leaders said that in the wake of the severe losses caused by the latest Monta cyclone, the primary objective of Jagan’s visit is to highlight farmers’ issues, raise their voice, and put pressure on the government to announce support measures.
