UGC NET December 2025 Notification Released

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially released the UGC NET December 2025 Notification for candidates aspiring to become Assistant Professors or to qualify for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in india . The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is one of India’s most prestigious examinations for academic, research careers in higher education.

Through this exam, candidates can qualify for JRF and Assistant Professor posts across universities, colleges, and research institutions in India. this December 2025 cycle brings new opportunities for postgraduates aiming to build future in teaching and research.

 Exam Overview:

The UGC NET 2025 Exam will be conducted online (Computer-Based Test – CBT) across more than 200 cities in India, covering 83 subjects. The exam is designed to assess candidates’ teaching aptitude, subject knowledge, and research capability .

 Eligibility Criteria”

Educational Qualification:

• Candidates must have a Master’s Degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks (for General category).

• Candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/PwD categories are given a 5% relaxation (50% marks).

• Final-year postgraduates are also eligible to apply provisionally.

• Candidates who completed their Ph.D. before 1991 are also eligible for a 5% relaxation.

Age Limit:

• For JRF: Maximum 30 years (Relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/OBC/PwD/Women).

• For Assistant Professor: No upper age limit.

Fees must be paid online only using UPI, Credit/Debit Cards, or Net Banking.

Exam Pattern:

The UGC NET 2025 will consist of two papers, both conducted in a single session of three hours.

• Total Marks: 300

• Duration: 3 Hours

• Negative Marking: None

• Medium: Bilingual (English & Telugu for Telugu candidates)

Reservation :

The reservation for various categories will be as per the Government of India’s norms.

Exam Centers in Telangana state:

UGC NET 2025 exam will be conducted in over 200 cities across India. In Telangana, the exam centers are likely to be located in Hyderabad, Warangal, Nizamabad, Khammam, Mahabubnagar, and Siddipet, among others. the Candidates can select their preferred city during the online application process.

3. Register as a new user or log in with your credentials

4. Fill out the online application form with accurate details

5. Upload required documents (photo, signature, certificates)

6. Pay the examination fee online

7. Download and print the confirmation page for future reference

Important Instructions for Applicants:

• Each candidate must submit only one application.

• Providing false or incomplete information will lead to disqualification.

• Application fees are non-refundable under any circumstances.

• The Admit Card will be released 7 days before the exam.

• Examination city, date, and time will be mentioned on the admit card.

Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) Benefits:

Candidates qualifying for the JRF are eligible for a monthly fellowship from the University Grants Commission. As per current norms, JRF scholars receive ₹31,000 rupees  to ₹35,000 rupees per month, depending on the institution and research project. the Selected candidates can continue research in central universities, IITs, NITs, or other recognized research institutes across India.
