After an aerial survey of cyclone-affected areas in Hanamkonda district on Thursday, the Government convened a high-level review meeting with senior officials to assess the situation. The Government has taken up a series of strong measures to monitor the damage caused by the recent cyclone which severely affected several parts of Telangana.
During the review, officials were directed to immediately visit affected villages, conduct field-level inspections and prepare accurate reports on loss of life, property, livestock and crops. The Government stated that necessary relief measures would be initiated as soon as the damage assessment reports are submitted.
Reiterating its commitment to public welfare, the Government made it clear that compensation would be provided in a fair and transparent manner. It also stated that strict action would be taken against illegal nala encroachments and those occupying Government lands, irrespective of the influence or political background of those involved.
Regarding restoration of damaged public infrastructure such as roads, bridges, drainage systems and electricity networks in Hanamkonda, the Government instructed that permanent and sustainable structural solutions should be implemented instead of temporary repairs. Departments were asked to prepare long-term plans to prevent recurrence of such disasters in the future.
Officials have been advised to adopt a systematic and technology-driven approach to minimise loss of life during natural disasters and to further strengthen the disaster response mechanism. The Government appreciated the relentless efforts of staff and officials from Revenue, Police, Electricity, Municipal and Agriculture departments who worked round-the-clock during the cyclone.
The Government informed that arrangements have already been made to provide temporary shelters, food, drinking water, medical services and cattle care in the affected regions. It assured that farmers would receive crop compensation and families whose houses were damaged would be supported under housing schemes.
The Government stressed that it stands firmly with the affected people and directed officials to gather accurate information from every village and submit prompt reports. The Government said it considers itself a people’s government which will remain with every affected family until normalcy is restored.
