Jayashankar Bhupalpally: Two Form 8 applications submitted online on June 26 to update voter details have remained pending for 80 days, according to the applicants. They say they have not received any clear information about whether their applications have been approved, rejected, or require additional documents.
The applicants followed up on the status of their applications through the online system. With no clear resolution, they contacted the Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) office by email on July 29.
According to the information they received, processing of Form 8 applications under the SIR schedule was expected to begin on August 10. However, the applicants say there was no change in the status of their applications even after that date.
They sent another reminder to the CEO Telangana office on August 17, requesting action on the pending applications.
CEO Telangana Office Forwards Matter to DEO
Following the communication, the CEO Telangana office forwarded the matter to the Jayashankar Bhupalpally District Election Officer (DEO) on August 18 for necessary action, as informed to the applicants.
However, the applicants say their Form 8 applications remained unresolved even after the matter was forwarded to the district election authorities.
On August 23, they submitted two separate complaints through the ECI Citizen Service Portal. The applicants stated that both complaints were still showing as Open.
Questions Over Delay in Form 8 Processing
The applications were submitted on June 26, and 80 days had passed by September 14. During this period, the applicants contacted officials through online follow-ups and email. They also approached the CEO Telangana office, followed up after the matter was forwarded to the DEO, and eventually filed complaints through the ECI grievance portal.
Despite these efforts, the applications have not reached a final resolution, raising questions about their current status and the reasons for the delay.
The issue also highlights concerns about the accessibility of online voter services. While applicants familiar with online systems and email can follow up through multiple channels, voters who have limited knowledge of these processes may find it difficult to understand the status of their applications or identify the next steps.
Applicants seeking corrections to their names, addresses, or other electoral roll details need clear information about the progress of their requests. If any documents or corrections are required, the information should be communicated to them.
Applicants Seek Clarity from Election Authorities
The applicants are seeking clarification from the concerned election authorities on the reasons for the delay, the current stage of processing, and whether any additional information or documents are required.
They stated that they have records of their applications, email correspondence with officials, communication forwarded from the CEO office to the DEO, and details of their ECI grievance complaints.
The continued pendency of the two Form 8 applications, despite repeated follow-ups, raises concerns about the delivery of voter services. The applicants are now awaiting a clear response from the concerned election authorities regarding the status of their applications.
